Well, we have seen the verdict in the Alex Jones case go against the conspiracy theorist host of “Info Wars.” The man who basically rubbed salt in the wounds of the families of victims in the Sandy Hook school shooting by claiming that it was a hoax has been caught numerous times in lies during his trial. He did admit that he now knows that the school shooting did actually happen. But a jury forced him to pay over $4 million to the families.
Additionally, he will also have to pay $45.2 million in punitive damages to the families. Frankly, it could and should have been more than that. They should have gotten the full $150 million that they were seeking. Also, Jones should be heading to jail for the damage that he did. That, presumably, was never going to happen, but he deserves to sit and rot.
However, there are even wider ramifications from the case. Law enforcement can get the texts and other information from Jones, which means that there might indeed be more fallout from what was discovered to be his deliberate lying.
Also, there is relevant information pertaining to another huge news story happening right now: the January 6th Committee is evidently sending subpoenas for some of the texts and other relevant information from the trial to assist them in their attempts to obtain more information from that day. While the FBI, Secret Service, and Pentagon all deleted pertinent texts and other information pertaining to January 6th - an unofficial admission of guilt and complicity if there ever was one, by my estimation - these texts and other information could actually prove useful to the committee. Jones was a not just a supporter and participant in the storming of the Capitol, but he was in fact a prominent face and voice of it.
Hopefully, again, justice will come down hard and swift on not just Jones, but Roger Stone and Donald Trump and all who actively participated in the attack on the Capitol building in Washington on January 6th. Whatever helps, and hopefully this will help. The United States is still a democracy, at least for now. And it is a land that is supposed to be ruled by laws. It is not anything goes, so long as you can get away with it. Not yet, anyway. Alex Jones appears to be learning that lesson, finally. Perhaps others, especially Donald Trump, might be learning that lesson themselves very soon. To me, only then will justice truly be served in this case.
Let's hope that it happens.
