At Wembley Stadium, the hometown England Lionesses managed to score a goal late in extra time to defeat Germany, who had won the Euro eight times in the past. The goal broke the 1-1 tie and sent England to their first ever Women’s Eur title, allowing the women to celebrate an achievement that eluded the English men in the Euro tournament.
The game was very tight throughout, and the two teams were deadlocked at 1-1 late into the extra time session. Suddenly, Chloe Kelly got a golden opportunity right in front of the German net. Her first kick was blocked, but the ball took a fortunate bounce right back to her. Fortunate at least for England, anyway. Maybe not so fortunate for Germany. She then ripped her jersey off before a wildly ecstatic crowd at Wembley, having lifted England to their first Euro title.
