Trump's Residence at Mar-a-Lago Raided by FBI

Yesterday, the FBI searched Trump's Mar-a-Lago home. During the Trump presidency, this places was often in the headlines, as it was sometimes known as the "White House South." But in the past couple of days, it made headlines for an entirely different reason, although it was still related to the Trump presidency. This time, though, it was about the FBI searching for documents which may very well compromise Trump, particularly as the Justice Department finally, finally, finally seems ready to take action against Trump. At the very least, this raid by the FBI (that at least was what many people seemed to be calling it yesterday) begins to show that nobody, not even Donald Trump, is exempt from the law. It seemed that some people - again, especially Donald Trump - could get away with things, with very bad behavior and even criminal conduct, and expect to face no ramifications.

That finally began to change yesterday. Let's hope that it is not just an isolated incident.

King Con Don of course whined about it, even complaining that they went in his safe. And of course, his loyal followers and supporters are whining about it, too.

What a bunch of snowflakes!

Bill Kristol, a neocon Republican who I almost would never agree with or quote on a point in which we actually would see eye to eye on nevertheless made a very poignant point. Kristol has made very clear that he is not a fan of Trump, and he has little sympathy for Trump, or for his supporters, as they continue to whine and cry foul regarding the FBI raid at Mar-a-Lago:

Bill Kristol @BillKristol

Why are Trumpists upset? The search warrant was approved by a judge not Joe Biden. But if nothing incriminating is found, Trump won't be indicted, or if indicted of course wouldn't be convicted by a jury of his peers. Trump supporters are upset because they suspect...he's guilty.

That's right. As conservatives often like to point out, why worry if you are not guilty? The only reason that they should be worried is if they know that he did something wrong. And much like I suspect that nobody knows as well as King Con Don does that he really did lose the election, nobody knows Trump's guilt as much as his most ardent defenders.

Some of them even went so far as to compare this to living in dictatorship! Imagine, these people who tried to find every possible excuse to defend Trump when he engaged in the ultimate indefensible and dictatorial act - trying to block democratic proceedings and keep Trump in power despite the obvious voter will against it - are now claiming that the Feds are acting like this is a dictatorship! It reminded me a little bit of segregationist Governor George Wallace claiming that the federal government presence to make sure that schools in the Deep South were desegregated were acting like this is a dictatorship. How can anyone with an ounce of reason and objectivity sympathize with their crocodile tears?

Unbelievable. Again, they love to claim that everyone else is whining, that everyone else are just melting snowflakes. But nobody whines more than Trump himself, and his loyal base of fans also make a habit of whining about everything.

Maybe it's time for them to recognize it's time to shut up. Again, all of the evidence points to Trump being guilty. That is nothing new, of course. But this time, Trump may actually be held accountable for his actions. It's about time. Long overdue, in fact!

So what does this mean? After all, 15 boxes of documents were already handed over to the National Archives from Mar-a-Lago back in January. Was that not enough?

Well, according to a CNN article by Tierney Sneed from earlier today, former FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe made it clear that the FBI would not have taken such an extraordinary step as raiding the house of a former president without good reason:

"I really don't believe that the department would have taken such a significant step as pursuing a search warrant for the president's residence about information they already had back," Andrew McCabe, a former FBI deputy director and CNN contributor, said on CNN "Newsroom." "There had to be a suspicion, a concern and indeed specific information that led them to believe that there were additional materials that were not turned over."

What would be the point?

Well, that goes back to some of the suspicions regarding Trump and his illegal handling of sensitive White House documents which are supposed to belong to the people of the United States. Remember, he flushed some documents down the toilet in the White House. And he brought many boxes of documents with him once he left the White House. Both of those are illegal acts. In addition, it sure seems that Trump's tendency is to never be forthcoming or accommodating whenever he is being investigated. That, in and of itself, feels like it is a pretty clear indicator of his guilt. Going back again to that CNN article by Tierney Sneed:

It is a crime to destroy or remove federal records, or to mishandle classified documents. There are other federal laws that aim prevent the tampering of information during an investigation.

Some of us have felt for a very long time that Trump has always conducted himself in at best a shady, and at worst an outright criminal manner. Up until no, he has largely gotten away with it. And the message that he continually seems to get from this trend is to go ever further, to test the limits again and again, and see if he can get away with even more. Hell, this guy tried to dethrone American democracy! Hell yes, it's time that he was made to pay some kind of price for that criminal conduct!

So for once, we can celebrate this small and long, long overdue indicator that, indeed, King Con Don might have overreached and may finally be held accountable. There is still a long way to go, but at the very least, it is a sign that, indeed, the federal government and the Department of Justice are serious about building a case and holding this monster accountable.

Let's see justice served.
