People, Not Nature, Responsible for Forest Fire Which Burned 11K Acres in N.J. Pine Barrens This Weekend

This weekend, I saw a sign warning about some areas of a highway being closed off because of firefighting efforts in the Pine Barrens. It reminded me of a trip out West, which is an area obviously known for some huge natural fires.

While the Pine Barrens are known to have fires from time to time, there was nothing natural about this fire, apparently.

Authorities believe that the fire was caused by people, that this was man-made. It is an area known for illegal bonfires, and that is what might have triggered the massive fire, which ultimately consumed 11,000 acres.
