Michael Cohen Says Trump Might Not Run for White House in 2024

Earlier today, I published a blog entry about how the old Republican Party as we knew it has basically ceased to exist. It has become the de facto Trump Party.

Well, former Trump ally, and now vehement political enemy, Michael Cohen has suggested that Trump might not run for the White House in 2024.

It sounds good.

Personally, I don't believe it. As much as so many, many of us would all like Trump to simply, finally go away, to disappear and never be seen or heard from again, he is not likely going anywhere.

Even if he is, it is clear that other Republicans are vying to try and be the new Trump, the new leader of the cult. That, perhaps, is the lasting political legacy of Trump, that what he brought to the country, which has often been called Trumpism, is here to stay. And the GOP has evidently gotten behind it 100 percent.

Even if Trump himself will not run, you can bet that somebody who subscribes to the basic tenets of Trumpism will run in 2024 and, yes, beyond, even if they do not win in 2024. Eventually, one of them will win. Maybe it will be Rick DeSantis. In today's reality, it might be someone else, like Matt Gaetz, or Lauren Bolbert, or Marjorie Taylor Greene. Hell, I would not even be entirely surprised if we get a President Ted Nugent or Kanye West or Kid Rock.

Wish I was joking.

But one way or another, even if Trump does not run, you can bet that a Trumpist will. This is the new McCarthyism for our modern era of the 21st century United States.
