Think that I first noticed this article a long time ago. It says that it was from two months ago (October of 2025), which sounds like longer ago than I expected.
Anyway, it feels typical of these crazy times that we are living in. This feels like the kind of headlines that would have seemed impossible once upon a time, like years and years ago, before Trump's political rise here in the United States.
Now, it feels like a very real possibility, at least if you are paying attention. After all, Trump lost the 2020 election by over seven million votes, was not denied any demands for a recount or challenges in court, claimed that he had "irrefutable proof" of "massive voter fraud" across the country that suggested that he was cheated, yet bent over backwards not to introduce this "irrefutable evidence" during any court cases, where there are actual penalties for lying.
Yet, the MAGA morons insist that everyone else is lying, and that this man is the one telling the truth?
Oh, and let's not forget that he tried to push back that election in the first place by using the same national emergency that he had made every effort to make seem was not an emergency at all as grounds to push back the election.
Then after all of that, Trump still led his army of mindless MAGA morons to try and prevent any peaceful, democratic transition of power on January 6th.
Since then, of course, he posted on his Truth Social that parts of the Constitution might need to be suspended. During the 2024 election, he told supporters that they should go out and vote, and then would never need to vote again. Then still later, he said that he didn't even need them to vote. All of that, plus what sure seems like a fake assassination attempt, and then evidently expressed interest not in his health or anything about the conspiracy having been foiled upon arriving at the hospital after that alleged assassination attempt, but instead was interested in how it played out on television. He hardly even backs away when people have asked him about being a dictator, claiming he would be a dictator on "Day One" (only, allegedly), and since claiming that "a lot of people" would permit him to be dictator if he was successful in cracking down on crime.
Having shown such dictatorial leanings and a clear desire to remain in power no matter what, even if a clear majority of Americans voted against it, the idea that there will not be a 2028 election, or that it might be "fixed" in Trump's favor, hardly seems laughable or the domain of crazy conspiracy theorists anymore, now, does it?
All of that said, I am not entirely sure what to think of Governor Newsom. He seems like the typical politician, an opportunist carefully strategizing about how to advance his ambitions, while making it seem like that is not what he is doing. Nonetheless, I would take him any day over the outright fascist that we have in the Oval Office right now.
