It's funny how Trump always seems angry and bothered whenever he is confronted with the downside of his own inappropriate behavior.
Case in point, Trump began systematically referring to Canada as the "51st state" seemingly as soon as he won last year's election.
Not surprisingly, it caused tensions. Frankly, how could it not? I spoke with American who were surprised to find out that Canadians are not particularly happy with Americans right now. Some of them were even angry at Canada over it.
Hello?
You elect a fucking imbecile who goes out of his way to disrespect Canada and claim that it is not a real country, for all intents and purposes. Then you are surprised that they are not overly happy about it?
Fucking morons.
Shame on Trump, but shame on them for supporting this kind of bullshit.
American products were famously taken off the shelves in Canadian stores. And the tourism from Canada into the United States has gone way down.
None of it is surprising. Trump can act bothered and angry all he wants. But all of it should be laid right at his feet. After all, none of these tensions existed before Trump won the presidency.
Now, Trump is in the Oval Office. Hate crimes and prominent displays of hate are on the rise. Video and photographic evidence of ICE raids by masked and anonymous police have horrified the entire world. We have been criticized by many around the world for our human rights abuses.
Are we great yet?
No wonder tourism to the United States is down.
That is why this post felt so relevant.
Indeed, this would be my own advice for many people outside of the country who might want to pay a visit to see the undeniable beauty: don't bother. At least not right now.
Something is deeply wrong in the land of milk and honey.
Until it gets better, you probably want to avoid unnecessary travel in the United States of Trump and MAGA.
