I have been thinking about some of the troubles that people knew to English might face from time to time.
Then I ran into this video of a stand-up comedian from Finland. He explains how strange it is - and it is indeed strange - how everyone here in the United States seems to automatically assume that acronyms are and will be understood. Despite having lived in this country for the vast majority of my life and, generally speaking, being familiar with the English language as any native speaker, there are times when everyone talks about a certain acronym as if it is universally understood, while I have to go to Google to discover what it means.
So I feel like this is a valid point, and I can sympathize.
Yet, he does this with good-natured humor.
