Earlier today, tennis had a second chapter of the "Battle of the Sexes." This pitted number one ranked Aryna Sabalenka against tennis bad boy Nick Kyrgios.
There were questions as to why this match even took place. What each player would get from it.
For Sabalenka, it might be a chance to prove herself against male competition. For Kyrgios, who has been plagued with an injury that largely took him out of relevance in the men's circuit, it might be a chance to launch a comeback.
In both cases, of course, it's a chance to get a decent payday.
Not everyone is convinced that this was a good idea or necessary. Indeed, it does smack of being more an attempt to grab attention than to make any kind of point or try to even up the odds and see who can come out on top. Indeed, it felt just a bit...well a bit like a gimmick.
